Do I need a Sexual Lubricant
Vaginal lubrication during sex is a must -
even when you are having sex on your own. It makes your sexual experience
much more comfortable and pleasurable.
A well chosen
personal lubricant
can really
enhance the moment. Even if you think you don't have any problems in that
department you'll be amazed how much better the experience will be if
you're well oiled - and we don't mean popping up the pub for a few.
Even during solo sex you'll find using your sex toy a dream to use - just
make you choose the right one.
In the past, people may have used
products such as Vaseline, but buying a purposefully manufactured sexual
lubricant is very much recommended. Using Vaseline for vaginal lubrication
can cause infections and rot condoms.
Water Based Lubricants
Water based lubricants such as
KY Jelly and
Aqua Super Slippery Lube are great for use with most sex toys and can
be used with latex condoms. Water based lubricants properly used will not
cause infections, stain your bed sheets or disrupt any other protection
you may use.
Water based sexual lubricants can be a
bit thin for anal play or prolonged sessions but they do feel natural
which is great.
Silicone Based Lubricants
This lubricant has a bit more staying
power. Silicone lubricants are waterproof so good to use with waterproof
sex toys and in the bath, and it doesn't absorb into the skin. Do
not use Silicone Lubricants with Silicone or Cyberskin Sex Toys.
Silicone lubricants can seem more
expensive than water based lubricants but a little can go a long way.
The Wet Platinum Lubricant is a great hit as is the
ID Millennium.
Oil based lubricants often used during
anal sex although widely used, are not necessarily the best
to use. They are very thick so feel comfortable to use but they rot latex
condoms and stain the bed sheets. Petroleum can also irritate the vagina.
Do not use with latex condoms or jelly and rubber Sex Toys.
Some sexual lubricants are especially
good for certain types of lovemaking.
Anal lubricants, or
flavoured lubes for oral sex.
Always check the description of all
lubricants before buying. If unsure contact the supplier.
If you do find some irritation after
using a lubricant stop using and see your doctor.
